David J. Shamrell, M.E., P.E., CFEI
Dave Shamrell can still remember the first thing he disassembled—his father’s tape measure—and the surprise it gave as it violently unwound in front of him. Mr. Shamrell credits this moment as the start of a love for solving problems. To this day, his father still uses the same tape measure.
Mr. Shamrell attended Gonzaga University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he joined Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a Nuclear Test Engineer. His experiences at the shipyard were an education in analyzing how a design is supposed to work as well as ways a design could fail. Also since graduation, he has obtained a Master’s degree with a focus in robotics. Now with ED&T, he provides mechanical system investigation and analysis, damage assessment, failure analysis, and fire origin and cause analysis.
Outside of work, Mr. Shamrell enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, and any activity that involves the outdoors, including camping, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing.
