Jeremy A. Braithwaite, P.E., brings over 25 years of specialized expertise in mechanical engineering and fire protection to EDT's forensic investigations, delivering critical insights into insurance claims, subrogation, and litigation support. With a proven track record in analyzing mechanical failures, fire origin and cause, and system compliance, Jeremy helps clients navigate complex losses involving equipment malfunctions, fire damage, and code violations. His hands-on experience of power generation, industrial facilities, and municipal fire departments assists to deliver precise assessments that stand up in court and empower clients to resolve disputes efficiently and recover costs effectively.

Prior to rejoining EDT in December 2025, Jeremy served as a Fire Protection Engineer for the City of Olathe Fire Department, where he enforced International Fire Code compliance, reviewed construction plans for fire sprinklers and alarms, and advised developers on hazardous materials storage. At Black & Veatch Corporation, he led fire protection system designs for gas-insulated switchgear buildings and combined-cycle power plants, including projects for major utilities. His prior employment at EDT comprised of performing failure analysis of mechanical components, fire damage evaluations, and air quality control retrofits for coal-fired boilers. Jeremy's diverse portfolio spans wastewater treatment, LNG facilities, and pumped storage hydroelectric projects, including  evaluations of pumps, piping, boilers, and vehicle systems.

Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming (2000). He is a registered Professional Engineer in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Wyoming. He maintains a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying Record and is an active member of organizations including the Missouri-Kansas Society of Fire Protection Engineers (MOKAN SFPE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). His publications include articles on fluid movement relating to pumps and failures in corrugated stainless-steel tubing, and he has presented at the Materials Science & Technology Conference.  

Outside the office, Jeremy enjoys cooking, tackling home projects, woodworking, and learning new languages. He and his wife, Kim, share a lively home with five children and three dogs.
