Pat has also served as a technical committee member for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), contributing to the Hot Work standard and several other NFPA standards. He is a recognized subject matter expert in fire and life safety in accordance with NFPA and possesses a strong knowledge base in fire protection systems as well as fire and life safety.

Pat was born and raised in New Jersey, where his career in emergency services began at the age of 16 as a junior volunteer firefighter. He went on to serve as a firefighter and fire officer while also pursuing a career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). His career in fire prevention and fire investigation has spanned multiple communities, as well as an urban university. Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for fire safety and community risk reduction programs within a medium-sized urban department, working collaboratively with other community organizations.
