R. Jason Roof, M.E., P.E.
Born and raised in Lexington, South Carolina, Mr. Roof grew up playing with Legos and watching his father run his own electrical engineering company. With a knack for problem solving and the simple pleasures of constructing buildings and bridges from Legos, he chose to pursue degrees in civil engineering.
After earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina, Mr. Roof started his career as a structural designer evaluating the conditions of and providing repair recommendations for the renovation and rehabilitation of existing buildings and other structures. These projects provided specialized experience with the abatement of asbestos construction materials, structural design and analysis, surveying, project management, and plan preparation. He later became involved in the design, analysis, and drafting of low to mid-rise commercial building structures for new construction. Prior to joining ED&T, Mr. Roof was an engineer in the transportation industry, designing continuous multi-span highway bridge superstructures and substructures.
While he’s not working, Mr. Roof enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and his two dogs, Rollin and Burma. Mr. Roof also enjoys working on his truck, helping others in his community, volunteering with MathCounts, and renovating his home in West Columbia, South Carolina.
