Mr. Menard was born and raised in rural Potter County, Pennsylvania. As a teenager, he worked summers for his father as a surveyor on various construction sites. During his college years, he spent his summers building log homes and interning for various engineering firms. Focusing on the structural aspect of the building industry, he earned a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Penn State. After graduation Mr. Menard worked as a design engineer for low-rise commercial and residential properties. Specializing in 3D design and Building Information Management software, he worked closely with both architects and contractors to limit problems and conflicts.
Mr. Menard joined ED&T in 2011. His areas of expertise include wind and seismic load analysis, gravity load analysis, building code assessment, foundation and retaining wall evaluation, and framing evaluation. His areas of service include investigation of soil instabilities, analysis of repair/replacement cost, evaluation of construction disputes, code compliance assessment, origin and cause analysis of building failures, and roof examination.
When not on the job, Mr. Menard enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, boating, fishing, playing softball, and watching sports. He and his family reside in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. Menard is a licensed engineer in: Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
