Ms. St. Clair specializes in the analysis of incidents involving site development and structures, including residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities, as well as issues of code compliance and competency of design and installation.
Descending from generations of steel erectors, Ms. St. Clair was exposed to construction and design concepts at an early age. Visiting construction sites, reading construction drawings, and discussing construction sequences and techniques have been a part of her life since childhood, and ultimately led to her becoming a civil engineer. She received a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, with structural engineering and construction management emphases, from the University of Tennessee.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Ms. St. Clair was employed as a student trainee with the United States Army Corps of Engineers inspecting and evaluating of residential structures. After completing her advance degree, Ms. St. Clair went to work as a design engineer responsible for the design of new structural steel buildings, including shallow concrete foundations and reinforced concrete masonry unit retaining walls; the evaluation and analysis of existing steel and concrete buildings; and construction management duties including field inspections, on-site construction issues supervision, and project labor and equipment costs estimation.
When not designing home improvement projects, Ms. St. Clair enjoys gardening, entertaining, camping, and kayaking.
Ms. St. Clair is a licensed engineer in the following states: California, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
