Mr. Hargis is a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Kentucky. He also holds a master's degree in business administration from Xavier University. Since receiving his engineering degree, he has worked as a design engineer, project engineer, chief engineer, and engineering manager. He has experience in the design and trouble shooting of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, and storage vessels. He also has experience in designing and installing production equipment in the food, pharmaceutical, adhesive, solid rocket propellant, and other industries. Mr. Hargis also managed a customer service laboratory for approximately three years where research and specialty process mixing and blending was conducted. In addition to engineering experience, he worked as an electronics technician for 7 years before that, specializing in UHF, VHF and HF radio equipment. Since joining ED&T in 1996, he has gained substantial experience in the investigation of fires and explosions, including passenger and commercial vehicles, off-road equipment, and residential and commercial structures. When off the job and relaxing, Mr. Hargis and his wife enjoy motorcycle touring. He also enjoys reading and participating in the upkeep of his 1930s home in the historic district in Gastonia, North Carolina. Mr. Hargis is a licensed engineer in the following state: North Carolina.
