After serving as an engineman in the United States Navy aboard ships, Mr. Young attended the University of South Carolina and earned his bachelor's of science in mechanical engineering. After studying at the Chrysler Institute in Detroit for one year, he returned to South Carolina and to a polymer plant where he had worked while attending college. Twenty-six years later, Mr. Young retired and joined the staff at ED&T. While at ED&T, he has been involved in projects ranging from dishwasher overflows to fire origin and cause of multi-story buildings (and in his own words, loving every minute of it). When not at some remote loss site, he can usually be found enjoying the company of his wife of 48 years (and counting) and his three grandchildren. Mr. Young is a real tool man, most evident is the fact that he personally built his own house, a seven-year labor, piece by piece. Mr. Young is a licensed engineer in the following states: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Mr. Young is also a licensed mechanical contractor in South Carolina and is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator.
